I hope you and your
family enjoyed a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving and Hanukah week—and now we’re
just 19 days away from the next big celebration! It sounds like, despite the
hustle and bustle of the feasts, the festivities and all of that crazy shopping,
many of you still found time to check out some new neighborhoods, new towns and
new happenings in places you’re considering calling “home.” It’s a great time
of year to explore!
Despite the holiday slow down, this past week was a busy one in the real estate market. The U.S. Census Bureau launched Dwellr, a new app that mines data from the Census and helps users find the perfect spot for them based on a host of specifications. From a college student looking to work in a certain field to the 60+ set trying to identify a great retirement oasis or even a single man or woman looking to find a mate, Dwellr draws on existing data to provide potential hotspots just for you.

And, echoing what
Suburban Jungle president Ali Bernstein said in her piece with TheStreet.com
last month, holiday
home buying is fast becoming a popular trend for the motivated. Buyers are
typically more willing to cut a deal—you can thank cold weather and shorter
days for that—and can feel the pressure of getting everything closed before
January 1.
