Day camps are a great way for new and prospective suburban families to
meet locals in the areas you’re exploring—and sending city camps to camp out of
the city gives them a chance to step out of their immediate comfort zones, and
take advantage of even bigger, better activities, outdoor adventures and more.
We’ll be highlighting a few different camps in each of our different areas over
the next few weeks, so whether you’re looking for a last-minute placement or
researching fornext summer,
check back each week!
This Week…Ramapo Country Day Camp in Rockland County!
Set on 35 picturesque acres in Rockland County, Ramapo
Country Day Camp has
long been popular among both area residents as well as those from neighboring
Westchester County. Dedicated to building “unforgettable camp experience in a
country setting,” this active, innovative summer destination has ample
opportunities for everyone, from sports and swimming to creative and performing
arts to countless outdoor activities on their meticulously maintained grounds. Children
of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate in each day’s
well-balanced activities roster, with plenty of time to self-guide and
self-direct for the perfect summer!
The ages
Ramapo’s Junior Camp accepts campers entering preschool and kindergarten, and
centers on a scaled down sports facility to ensure they get the same experience
as their older siblings and camp counterparts. Those entering 1st
and 2nd grade are part of Intermediate Camp with age-appropriate activities throughout the day. The
oldest campers—the Senior Camp—are in 3rd-8th
grade, and have even more opportunities to craft their own personalized summer
experiences from start to finish.
The facilities
This 35-acre camp prides itself on its stunning
natural settings, with equally impressive facilities, meticulous upkeep and seemingly
endless activities. Ramapo has four pools, plus soccer fields, softball
diamonds, tennis courts, hiking trails, basketball courts, a zip line and a
dedicated horseback riding stable/field, along with indoor
activities—performing and fine arts facilities and an indoor playscape, among
other incredible must-sees. Campers also receive a delicious lunch every day,
complete with healthy eats and kid favorites.
The activities
Designed to cater to kids of all ages and all
skill/interest levels, Ramapo’s activities are diverse and wide-reaching. From
action adventure—go carts, a zip line, mountain biking, bungee trampolines,
rock walls and a ropes course—to swimming lessons and free play, horseback
riding, music and theater, arts and crafts and, even, classic and unique
sports, there’s an endless array for campers to choose from each day.
Week 1 started June 29th, but some age
groups still have limited availability for the second 4-week session. Visit the
website or contact Ramapo directly at 845-356-6440 for more
information or to get the info on next
summer!
