Brooklyn rents skyrocketing

Energy Efficient?

Going green at home? This year may be your last to claim the tax credit awarded to home owners who have integrated certain energy efficiencies and related improvements to their principal residence. There is a $500 lifetime cap, so even if you've used some of the credit in recent years (the bill was enacted in 2005), you may still be eligible for some savings come April. Qualified expenses include insulation, windows, doors and roofs. What's more, owners can apply costs for certain installations--in some cases up to the total cost of the equipment--for enhancements such as efficient hot water boilers, select air conditioners, biomass stoves and much more. Read more here...

Brooklyn Rents Skyrocket
Rents catching up to Manhattan prices

The average rental price in Brooklyn skyrocketed more
than 8% between July 2012 and July 2013, following a
5.2% increase between 2011 and 2012. Average rent
for the more desirable neighborhoods--Williamsburg,
Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, among
others--hit $2,675. Manhattan rents rose 1.7% during
